Immerse yourself in the art and artifacts of the ancient Mediterranean world during this daytrip to the J. Paul Getty Villa Museum in Malibu – the only museum in the U.S. solely devoted to antiquities from the Mediterranean region. Built by billionaire oil magnate J. Paul Getty in the early 1970s, the Getty Villa is modeled after a luxurious villa that was buried for centuries in ash and mud following the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in Italy. Stroll the lush gardens and explore galleries housing over 1,200 Greek, Roman and Etruscan relics spanning 4,000 years of ancient art, from the end of the Stone Age to the fall of the Roman Empire. Artifacts in the permanent collection have been arranged to present the history of Greek and Roman art in a chronological manner, and a ground-floor gallery houses art from neighboring cultures. See first-century A.D. frescoes from a Villa near Pompeii, Roman sculptures, Hellenistic period jewelry, Etruscan drawings, and more! Your day includes four hours to explore the museum at your leisure and have lunch on your own at the museum’s cafe, which serves casual Mediterranean fare.

CANCELLATIONS:  You may cancel your reservation fourteen (14) days or more prior to the departure date to receive a refund less a $12 per person cancellation fee. Alternatively, when you cancel your booking fourteen (14) days or more prior to the departure date you can avoid the cancellation fee by transferring to another tour or receiving a non-refundable voucher for future use on any excursion. Bookings canceled within 14 days of the departure date are nonrefundable and nontransferable for any reason. Name changes on daytrips are always permitted without penalty.
